There are some songs I’ve always played live that haven’t been available on a cd, but for which I’ve always gotten cd requests. Some of you say these were written “just for you!” Then there are the songs that have aged quite a bit, but seem to take on more life as the living keeps on going….and as I kept on going…celebrating the release of my first batch of songs to be on itunes and amazon – I thought, what can I do to satisfy the people who have supported me and my music, and what can I do to sort of end a chapter if you will. I also really wanted something to sell while out on the 50 states tour last fall – that would be more reminiscent of what those shows were all about. So…..what to DO about this??

Ta-Dah!! Kaci Bolls Live. With the help of my very good friends Chris Blair and his great Nashville venue The Listening Room, and the fine folks at Murray State University and Lovett Live, I was able to record 2 shows where I unveiled the new songs off of the “1929″ ep, and then finished off with the “oldies” and “goodies”. While singing backup out on the road summer before last, I became friends with Taylor Pryor, and he totally hooked me up (while not being busy with Joe Nichols) and recorded these shows….and managed to edit out a lot of my “rambling”. :) ha!

Some wonderful musicians and friends of mine, Derek Wells, Jordan Lawson, Justin Schipper, Tim Marks, and Marcia Ramirez backed me up and sound amazing. And the best part? THE FANS!!! To get the funding for this, I sent out an email, asking if anyone would be interested in “pre-pledging” the cd cost of $15. If they wanted to pledge, they wrote me and told me the amount, and ONLY when I hit the amount needed would I call in the pledges. We hit it in one week. We went OVER it. And in return, I was able to list all the pledgers in the liner notes of the cd. It’s my favorite part of the whole thing.

Well….running a very close second is the artwork. My SUPER talented buddy and neighbor Joshua Rush did all the photography and graphic work, and it looks amazing.

All in all….a success! There are 15 tracks, including so many songs that I’ve played for a good while here in Nashville. As a bonus, we included a work tape of “I Miss You” – a song off of the EP.

SO…..You can order directly through me by paying $17.50 ($15 + $2.50S/H) here on the site under “donate”. It will go to my paypal and I will mail directly to you with a bonus download card. You can find on digstation and cdbaby too. (But I’d get the real thing to check out all those cool names and the artwork!)

SO….until I get to see you in person…this is the next best thing to connect us! And we included some of the stories that go with the songs. I hope you enjoy!

xoxo

Yep. It’s true. The time has finally come to have music for all of you who ask me….and I THANK YOU for asking. I’ve always had a lame excuse, like I’m singing other peoples songs for them, or I’m switching publishing deals, or I had a potluck to cook a casserole for…..but no more excuses.

I now have my own little place on iTunes and Amazon for you to download. And for those of you hard core music lovers who like to have the product in your hand to study everything about it- that can happen too!! Email me an address and I’ll be selling them for $5 (plus $2.50 for s+h).

The EP is called “1929″. If you will go back and read my blog ‘Party like it’s 2009?’ – you will see where my head-space was earlier this year. As time marched on, and the gloom and doom of the economy preached and ranted from the news rooms. That morning in the car I heard on the radio, “This is the WORST it’s been since the famous crash of ‘29. I mean…this is BAAAAD. REALLY REALLY BAD, people.”

Wow. What a lead in to up-tempo positive! I sat in a writer room with my friends Joshua Rush and Kent Agee. I kept wanting to write a song that Kent and I had started. No title – but the opening line was “I got a red dress – I know how to use it.” Josh laughed. Started playing a cool groove. Kent approved. Then….we decided to just write a song that said – ‘forget it all! Chase the blues for a night! Lost your job? Forget about it!!’ After all….that’s what they did in the 30’s after the stock market crash. Think “We’re in the Money”, “Bye-bye blues”, “Puttin on the Ritz”….they were singing about the glory days – but most were NOT living it. SO – I jokingly said, “well – we could party like it’s 1929….” Silence. Stares. Crickets. I clarified. ”You know. The stock market crash in 1929? The great Depression? PRINCE? Party like it’s 1999?? You know the song…..RIGHT?” I apologized for my warped brain. Then slowly Kent said, and I quote, “That might just be the most brilliant thing you’ve ever said.” REALLY? I love to be brilliant! And being a C student in all things Algebra and even college voice lessons – I REALLY love to be called brilliant!

So….the song was born. The song came of age in the studio. And this little song baby has made it all the way to the big world of the internet. I hope you enjoy it. I hope you buy it. I hope you tell your friends and family and everyone who loves to shake it and turn it up – cause it’s that kind of song.

There are some more songs too….I’ll tell you fun things about those later. For now….FOCUS.

Cheers!

And won’t you help me
Party like it’s 1929!!!!
